What is the Yiya STEM Educator Training?
This is a skills-based training full of practicals designed for individuals passionate about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). We are looking for strong educators who are seeking to tap into STEM-related opportunities in the education sector.
Participants will leave this training with skills in developing practical math and science lessons as well as the ability to incorporate engineering projects into the secondary syllabus. In this training, participants will undertake multiple engineering projects, including building their own bicycle-powered cell phone charger!
This training will take place from Monday 23rd/04/2018 to Saturday 28th/04/2018 from 8:30am-5:30pm at Days Inn, Lira District. Upon successful completion of requirements, participants will be awarded a STEM Educator certificate from Yiya at an awards ceremony held on Saturday 05th/05/2018. Breakfast, lunch, and evening tea will be served on all training days. This is a nonresidential training.
Outstanding training participants will stand a chance to join Yiya for employment!
Who is eligible?
Secondary school teachers, university graduates, science and engineering students currently enrolled at tertiary institutions, and individuals from the private sector who are deeply passionate about science, technology, engineering, and math education are encouraged to apply!
Women are especially encouraged to apply.
Participants are required to pay UGX 100,000 upon registration.
What is Yiya Engineering Solutions?
Yiya is an educational organization registered by the Ugandan NGO Board and recommended by the national Ministry of Education & Sports. Yiya designs project-based engineering curricula for secondary schools. Our lessons involve the practical application of science and math topics from the national syllabus. We provide curriculum development, teacher training, and co-teaching support in the classroom.
