From Luuka District, in Eastern Uganda, Samson Wambuzi earned his Bachelors of Science in Education from Makerere University. He carries vast experience in Ugandan secondary education, having been a physics and mathematics teacher, teacher trainer, and curriculum designer. He previously worked in the Ugandan public school system and for the international NGO Educate! Samson is a cofounder and Program Director at Yiya.
Originally from Boston, Erin has lived in Uganda for more than three years. Erin earned her undergraduate degree from MIT and her M.Ed. from Marquette University. She has over a decade of experience in secondary STEM education, teacher training, and curriculum development, in locations as diverse as Wisconsin, Arizona, Ethiopia, Uganda, and South Sudan, to name a few! Erin is a cofounder and Country Director at Yiya.
Born in Gulu, Northern Uganda, Marion Arecho holds a bachelor's degree in Quantitative Economics from Gulu University, as well as several certificates in research, entrepreneurship, youth training, and social change. Marion's previous experience includes Stanbic Bank and Gulu University, where she taught as an assistant lecturer in the faculty of Business and Development Studies. Marion is currently the Project Coordinator at Yiya.
Denis Owac is a business fanatic! He owns several businesses in Lira Town, Northern Uganda, his home district. Denis obtained a diploma in Public Administration from Fountain Aid Institute in Lira. He has worked as a Head Teacher of a private secondary school and has trained many youth in Northern Uganda in the topics of entrepreneurship and leadership. Denis is currently the Project Officer at Yiya.
